As for those lush lashes, “I decided to forgo false lashes and instead lined her top lash line with Antonym’s Certified Natural Eye Pencil in Noir ($18; antonymcosmetics.com),” she tells us. “To add density to her lashes, I took a small, dense shadow brush and smudged it in.” Finally, a dusting of Orlane’s Highlight Care Brush ($45; orlane.com) was applied on the inside corner of her eyes for added shimmer.

After applying a layer of a gold cream shadow, like Laura Mercier s Metallic Creme Eye Color in Copper Sunrise ($24; lauramercier.com), use a shadow brush to press a shiny bronze hue over the top. We used Urban Decay s Eye Shadow in Baked ($18; sephora.com). Follow by blending a dark brown shadow into your crease with a dome-shaped brush.
Use a pale gold shadow, like Rouge Bunny Rouge s Loose Glitter Pigment ($23; beautyhabit.com), on your inner corners to open up the eyes, and blend out with your finger.

Pick up a liquid liner, trace your upper lash line ,and extend it into a dramatic wing once you reach the end. A pen-shaped stylo like Eyeko s ($19; sephora.com) can be easier to control if you have trouble holding a steady hand.
With Make Up For Ever s Aqua Liner in Diamond Turquoise Blue ($23; sephora.com), extend a sharp wing starting from your lower outer corner, then trace the rest of your lower lash line with the product.
Once your blue liner is in place, pick up the black liquid again and apply a downward-curving wing on each of your inner corners. Curl lashes, and follow with a few coats of mascara. Add faux lashes if needed.

Apply a tawny nude hue like Cle de Peau s Extra Rich Lipstick in 312 V ($40; nordstrom.com), then mix a gold pigment with a clear lip gloss and press it into the center of your lips to create a slight ombre effect. We picked up the same Rouge Bunny Rouge gold pigment for this step.
Use a luminizer like Flower Beauty s Glisten Up Highlighter in Gold Coaster ($10; walmart.com) over your cheekbones and above the brow, then diffuse the color with a makeup sponge to impart a natural glow.
Add a finishing layer of loose powder over your T-zone, and you re good to go!

Whether it was designing the bottles, or picking out pumps, not one of us said that there was a certain way things had to be, and it was a collective effort. What better way to celebrate the weekend than with some eye-catching nail art? Earlier this week, we tried our hand at a Swarovski-studded manicure, and although the effect is stunning, it s surprisingly easy to recreate. Ready to shine? Keep reading for the step-by-step instructions you need to nail the look.
1. Give your digits a quick swipe of nail polish remover to dissolve any hand cream, or any other oils that could cause your mani to prematurely chip. Then, follow with a layer of base coat like Orly s Bonder ($10; orlybeauty.com).
2. Pick your color scheme. While we went for Butter London s Petticoat hue ($15; butterlondon.com), just about any shade would look great next to the blinged-out statement nail. Apply two even coats to each nail, except for your ring finger.
3. On your ring finger, paint two coats of Deborah Lippmann s Moon Rendezvous ($18; deborahlippmann.com), or another equally-sparkly silver.
4. Apply a durable top coat like Dior s Gel Coat ($25; sephora.com), and while the lacquer on your ring finger is still wet, use a set of pointed tweezers to pick up and apply each Swarovski element (prices vary; swarovski-elements.com for locations) to cover your nail bed.
5. Use your finger to press the crystals into place, then follow with an extra layer of top coat to ensure they don t budge. Once your nails are dry and you ve cleaned up any unexpected smudges around your cuticle, snap a few photos, upload them to Instagram, and get ready to go viral.

Lauren Conrad Cuts Her Hair into a Lob (as We Collectively Swoon)!

While we admittedly think Lauren Conrad can do no wrong (see her super chic apartment and dreamy wedding ceremony) she still manages to surprise us with her great style on a regular basis. Just last night, on Instagram, Conrad debuted a new crop—a fresh, layered lob—which she described as her  first haircut in years. Kristin Ess, L.C. s longtime hairstylist and co-founder of The Beauty Department, provided the newlywed with the new look.

Last year, Conrad told InStyle, I like the lob a lot, but my hair grows so slowly so I’m reluctant to cut it any shorter. I do think it’s a really cool look, I’ve been toying around with the idea. It’s hair, and it does always grow back, so I think it’s fun to experiment with new looks. Her hair color is still the warm, buttery blonde she s had recently, but we re betting she ll change it up soon enough—after all, Conrad was one of the first in the now long list of celebrities to go lavender, have hot pink tips, and even try rainbow highlights.

How I Wash My Face: Ashley Greene

There s no denying it—Ashley Greene has a killer complexion. But there s no easy shortcut to getting her glowing skin. At the Bulgari and Save the Children pre-Oscars party earlier this week, the actress let InStyle in on her skincare routine, which she described simply as quite extensive.

I wash first with Joanna Vargas s vitamin C ($65; dermstore.com)—I m a huge fan. Wash first, exfoliate second. Then, I do an eye cream and use different oils, Greene says. The oils are both still Joanna Vargas. The eye cream I ve been using lately is Kate Somerville. Extensive, yes, but clearly the actress s thorough skincare routine is working.

Emeli Sandé on Her Too-Cool-for-School Pompadour and Social Media Songwriting Project

Don’t get us wrong: We appreciate a good pop song just as much as the next person, but before we even heard Emeli Sandé’s soulful ballads—infused with the perfect tinge of folk rock and ‘90s R&B—we were completely enthralled by her hair. To be more specific, her epic Pompadour ‘do.
Perched atop the Scottish singer-songwriter’s head like a mountaintop, Sandé’s expertly coiffed Pompadour is the perfect blend of past and present: A mound of hair swept upward from the face, styled sometimes in curls, sometimes like an 80s punk rocker s Mohawk, with the sides of the head trimmed close to the surface à la Ellie Goulding in 2011. “Every now and then it needs a touch-up,” she told InStyle. “I like making sure everything’s neat and shaved right.” A bit modest, sure, but Sandé insists that her seemingly complex hairstyle requires little more than a 20-minute-long blowdry. “I use a little bit of oil to keep it in place too,” she added.
When Sandé’s not busy tending to her tresses, she’s of course penning award-winning tracks, like the infectious, piano-pulsating “Next to Me” off her 2013 debut album Our Version of Events. For her next sure to be chart-topping single, the artist is taking a novelty approach: She’s teaming up with Jaguar—and thousands of Twitter users—to write what’s arguably the first-ever song to be generated from a hashtag.
With Jaguar’s new online platform FEEL XE, Sandé will write a song about “the feeling of exhilaration” to support the reveal of Jaguar’s new XE sports sedan (pictured above). How? By asking the public, quite simply, “What makes you feel exhilarated?” Using #FEELXE, users can then try their hand at songwriting via social media by tweeting, Instagramming, or Facebooking what makes them feel just so. “I just want to capture feelings of excitement and things I haven’t thought of or experienced before, Sandé said. A song always comes from a conversation—I look at this as one massive one.”
So what makes Sandé feel exhilarated? (Besides her hair, of course.) “The moment when a song is conceived—it’s such a high that I’ve gotten addicted to, and it’s magical.”
