LONDON, United Kingdom – Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson is undergoing treatment for a cancerous tumour on his tongue, the band said on its official website on Thursday.
The tumor was found when the 56-year-old Dickinson went in for a routine check-up before Christmas, the British heavy metal band said in a statement.
"A seven-week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment was completed yesterday. As the tumor was caught in the early stages, the prognosis thankfully is extremely good," the statement said.
The announcement appeared alongside a picture of Dickinson during a concert surrounded by flames of fire and the band said it would provide a further update about his condition by the end of May.
"It will then take a further few months for Bruce to get back to full fitness," it added.
Iron Maiden was formed in 1975 and has sold 80 million albums and won multiple awards, making it one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time. – Rappler.com
